The most common cause of death for US men in 2014 was diseases of the heart. Per 100,000 deaths there were 210.9 deaths from heart disease.

For suicide the figure is 20.7 per 100,000 deaths.

The US Centre for Disease Control (who provide these statistics) also breaks the figures down by race.
WOMEN

The most common cause of death for US women in 2014 was also diseases of the heart. Per 100,000 deaths there were 131.8 deaths from heart disease.

For suicide the figure is 5.8 per 100,000 deaths.
